Biography

I’m Alexander (Alex) Reaves, a physicist turned aerodynamicist. I am American, but have lived outside of the United States for most of my adult life. I did my undergraduate degree in Singapore at Yale-NUS College (a joint venture between Yale University and the National University of Singapore) and am pursuing my postgraduate studies at the University of Cambridge in the United Kingdom.

My research focuses on developing propulsors for electric airplanes. Specifically, I develop models for the mechanical, thermal, aerodynamic, and electrical performance of different propulsors so that they can be compared in holistic ways. I am particularly interested in the application of these models for use in distributed propulsion aircraft and eVTOLS.

I am a member of Pembroke College and enjoy swimming and cycling around Cambridge when not in the lab.
